2006 Keski Climb and Canadian Rollerski Championships Updates!

Saturday 8am: Keski Climb (Junior M/W: 10km, Open M/W: 20km
Saturday 2pm: 200m Dual Sprints

Details haven't been very clear, but here's the offical word for the 1st Canadian rollerski championships. The Keskinada site now has the race notice posted - http://keskinada.com/en/championnat_en.htm.

Registration Form (PDF). You cannot register on-line for all events, only the Keski climb. You must donload the registration form and submit it to...

  1. Keskinada office 60, du Grès Street, Gatineau (Hull sector) (Exit 8 on Highway 5 North), at the stop, cross the Haute-Plaine blvd and turn left on the first street from 5:00pm on Friday, September 29th

Some genral info... 
  • All races are in free style.
  • Pursuit race result will be made of total time of Race one (Prologue) and Race 2 (Keski Climb).
  • Individual race times of Race 2 will also count toward the Elpex Cup results (Quebec’s provincial roller ski series).
  • For the Sprint event, top 16 qualifiers move to the eighth of finals Sprint heat format.

** Location
Prologue and Sprints will take place on Technologie Blvd.(Exit 8 on Highway 5 North), at the stop, cross the Haute-Plaine blvd. The Keski Climb will take place in the Gatineau Park, starting on Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd. close to the Relais plein air du Parc de la Gatineau.

** Bibs pick-up (10 & 20 km)

  • Prologue - from 5 pm Friday, September 29th at the keskinada Office - 60 du Grès Street, Gatineau (Hull sector)
  • From 6:30 am, September 30th at the Relais plein air - 397, Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd.
  • Sprints - from 1 pm, Saturday, September 30th - at the keskinada office - 60 du Grès Street, Gatineau (Hull sector)

Important details - Race course – Keski Climb
The start area is on Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd. in Gatineau near the «Relais plein air du Parc de la Gatineau.» Participants will head south on Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd., go around the Asticou Centre on the north side (on the right) circular road, take the bike path that leads to the Gatineau Parkway and finally travel up Gatineau and Champlain parkways to Champlain Lookout.

Equipments

  • The roller ski must be a commercial product available to the general public.
  • The diameter of the wheels should be no more than 100 mm.
  • The interax of the roller ski is no less than 530 mm.
  • Two poles with specific roller ski or cross-country skiing tips must be used.
  • Cross-country ski bindings must be used.
  • During the race, the roller skis and poles can be changed

Helmets
All participants must wear protective headwear in order to take part in the roller ski events.

Participant transportation
Return to the Relais plein air du Parc de la Gatineau will be via the Keski Climb buses.

Access to the parkway network
The parkway network will be closed to motor vehicles (except for race vehicles) during the Keski Climb. Spectators wishing to get to different points on the race course may use the Keski Climb buses at a cost of $3.

Deadlines
For safety reasons, all participants failing to reach Fortune/Champlain parkway by 10:30 a.m. are not authorized to continue their race event.

Awards ceremony
Award ceremonies for each event will take place immediately following the event. The Championship award ceremony will take place Saturday afternoon after the Sprint events.
