Eastern Canadian Championships 2014

This upcoming weekend marks one of the busiest race weekends of the season for canadian cross country ski racers. In particular Team XCOttawa because it is an "at home" three day race event and it is the one and only Eastern Canadian Championships!
As in recent previous years, Eastern Canadians are a three day event. Beginning on Friday January 31st with skate sprints for the Open Men and Women and Prologue events for Juveniles and Juniors. Next up on Saturday are individual start middle distance skate races (15k Open men, 10k Open women). To finish up the weekend it will be the oh so infamous mass start classic distance race. On this final day, the women will be tackling a 15k and the men a 20k.
This race weekend is one of XCOttawa's favourites because we get the luxury of sleeping in our own beds, but even more important is that we have the amazing opportunity of friends and family coming out to cheer us on! And on top of all that, we get to race at one of our favourite venues: Nakkertok!

If just watching and cheering isn't for you, sign up to volunteer here for XCOttawa: www.cecski.ca

Also, the fabulous organization of Skiers4SchoolBox will be selling baked goods and coffee/tea to raise money for their trip to Nicaragua. Be sure to check out their table!

Stay tuned for race reports and results in the upcoming days,
Hope to see/hear you out there!
