Nakkertok and The Disabled National Ski Team are Looking for Guides
By: Jeff Whiting (2006/05/05)
The Disabled National Ski Team is looking for 5 more guides for blind racers at Nakkertok. Mikhail, with help from the National Ski Team, will provide training to prospective guides this summer. Guides could be master racers, retired racers or loppeteers looking for more challenge or junior racers that need more race starts at bigger competition or coaches that need National or International experience.
The Disabled National Ski Team funds the travel
expenses for both athletes and guides to National races, Redderrenits
in Norway and Europa Cup and possibly World Cup, World Championship and
Paralympics based upon selection criteria (B1 - totally blind, B2 - 5%,
and B3 - visually impaired) (http://www.cccski.com/main.asp
Currently only Olga Nazarenko has a regular guide, Robert D'Arras. Olga is on the Disabled Development National Ski Team this last season and has been nominated to the team for next season. Olga & Robert also raced at the World Cup Qualifier at Sovereign Lake, Nationals and Redderrenits in Norway. The Disabled National Ski Team funds both Olga and the guide, Robert.
We are looking for guides for Mikhail Gorbounov and Margarita Gorbounova. Margarita was funded by the Disabled National Ski Team to the International Paralympic Committee Development Camp in Norway. Both Mikhail and Margarita raced at National with local guides from Lappe and Big Thunder ski clubs and at Redderrenits in Norway with Norwegian guides.
3 more blind skiers want to join Nakkertok Racing Team this summer and will need guides. So, I am looking for 5 or more guides.
