Cantley, Quebec, February 16, 2005 - Nakkertok Nordic Ski Club is proud to announce that the 10th Annual "Thea's Race" is to be held on Sunday, March 13, 2005. This classic technique cross country ski race is geared to skiers, men and women, of all ages. The race course winds through the magnificent trails and terrain of Nakkertok North, located near the junction of highways 366 and 307 in the Outaouais region. The race begins with group starts at 11:00 am, and racers are to pick up their bibs from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The race commemorates the contribution made to Nakkertok and women's sports by Thea Holloway, a founding member and past-president of the club. The race has been held annually since 1995 at Nakkertok North on trails based on land purchased jointly by Thea and Meg Weber. Two trophies have been provided by the Holloway family, one to be presented to the fastest 6 km female skier and the fastest female 10 km skier. Last year, more than 140 skiers of all ages participated in the fun event. In an effort to encourage more women over age 30 to ski, a new 6 km category has been added. As well numerous draw prizes, such as gift certificates for massages, restaurants and ski equipment, will be awarded to women skiers. To register, please visit www.zone4.ca.
