Eastern Canadian Championships

The 2018 Canadian Eastern Championships Organizing Committee (CECOC2018) is proud to host the Haywood NorAm Canadian Eastern Championships (aka Easterns) February 2 to February 4 at Nakkertok South, Gatineau/Cantley QC. The 2018 Easterns is a FIS-sanctioned Haywood Noram event held with the support of Cross Country Canada providing an opportunity for many of Canada’s best cross country skiers to accumulate FIS points and to qualify for World Cup events. The Easterns is also part of the Ontario Cup and Quebec Cup series used to qualify racers for provincial teams and is also an Ontario Universities Athletics Qualifier. As many as 800 competitors are expected to participate. The general aims of the NorAm Canada Cup Race Series are to assist in athlete development at the elite level and to promote cross-country ski racing to the public at large. The Series enables the best skiers (seniors and juniors) from Canada and the United States to compete head-to-head generally throughout the early and middle periods of the ski season. The Series also encourages high level domestic competition among regional skiers who aspire to National Development and National Team status. The CECOC2018 is constituted of representatives of participating clubs in the Ottawa-Gatineau Cross-country Ski Community, which are: Chelsea Nordiq, Club Skinouk and Nakkertok Nordic.

Canadian Ski Marathon, Feb 9-11th

(CSM) is North America’s longest and oldest Nordic ski tour. Unlike most ski events, there are no winners or losers in the Canadian Ski Marathon: it is not a race. The event offers something for everyone, regardless of age, endurance or ability. Tourers and families who ski less than the full distance make up about half the participants. Each skier can select his/her own level of challenge and try to achieve it. One can ski as little as 12 km or up to the maximum of 160 km over the weekend.

Gatineau Loppet, Feb 16-18th

The Gatineau Loppet is an international cross-country ski competition where close to 2,500 skiers of all ages and levels come together on the trails of Gatineau Park. A member of the Worldloppet league, it is part of a circuit of the 20 biggest cross-country ski races around the world, including the Vasaloppet in Sweden, and La Tranjurassienne in France. The Gatineau Loppet takes place over a weekend in February, with 8 cross-country ski races, 3 snowshoe races and 3 fat bike races!
