The Jim Howe Memorial Run, took place this past Sunday at the Hornet's nest in Orleans. As always, the organizers put on a great event. This year was definitely one of the muddiest yet, which makes this a fun event!
I was the lone XCOttawa runner this year, but still had quite a cheering squad there with me. There are two distances to choose from at the Jim Howe, the 5.5k and the 11k. I have always ran the longer event, and even though I couldn't find my lucky track spikes, I decided to do my usual event. This is me after the first half lap, with one of the members of my cheering squad.
My brother Thomas, who is a rising running star, finished first in his cross-country meet this past week, and tackled the 5.5k on Sunday. Here he is long after he passed me:
Both of us had similar results to last year. Thomas finished first for the 14 and under category, while I was first female overall in the 11k. Finishing this race definitely feels like a huge accomplishment every year!
