Monday at Nationals was a short distance skate race - 5km for women and 10km for men. The race course, which was originally full of hard climbs was changed last min due to the lack of snow at Highlands Nordic. The new course really only had one climb with a lot of flat up at the top. With such a short distance it meant we all had to hammer the whole time so we didn’t loose any time.
The women went out first and XC Ottawa really showed Canada some solid results and good start for the week. Alana just coming back from China at World University Games, led our team with a 15th place (8th Canadian). Close behind Megan was 16th (9th Canadian), then Shelia 27th. Adele came 6th, Zoe 10th and Danielle 29th in the junior category.
The men was led by Karl with a 30th then Justin with a 71st. Colin came 18th and Matthias 27th in the junior category.
