While we racers get to show off the fancy spandex and enjoy the thrill of racing, there is another team behind the racers. That is, of course, the wax crew. The dedicated volunteers who work magic on our skis must not be forgotten! These folks rise at unholy hours and in all weather to test and perfect our speedy skis. We can’t thank them enough. Despite the challenges that variable snow conditions throw their way, the wax team makes it happen.
So far this season, we’ve been lucky to have a number of different helpers on our side. In no particular order, the team thanks Justin Demers, Anna Geiger-Whitlock, Rob Samulack, Nic Clifford, Craig Storey, Phil Brown, Bella Waterton, Michael Abbott, Rob MacDonald, Chris Mamen, Pavlina Sudrich, and of course, John Suuronen! Thanks for all your hard work and diligence!
At the NorAm in Thunder Bay, John perfects the grip while Peter...practices his heel clicks?
Pav and Anna hanging out in Canmore. We've been grateful to have Anna as our go-to girl for wax help this season. We were also fortunate to receive the help of Ontario Ski Team head coach Pavlina Sudrich at Easterns. This was through Cross Country Ontario's Pav Immersion Program.
Nic C. is thorough and organized in testing waxes and taking notes. I think he is visualizing how fast that Vauhti wax will be on race day.
Like I said, we can't thank our helpers enough... although Ingrid certainly tried to thank Pav, with this Epic Meal Time -worthy 'Pav-wich'. Mmmmm...?
