Last year we posted a summary of athlete blogs and websites. Well, it seems like more and more cross country skiers are getting into the blogging arena, so it’s time for an update.
Some may say we’re crazy. I believe dedicated is a better description.
XC Ottawa is just back from it's most successful early season snow camp ever. Why was it so much more successful? Because nothing more than a sweat was broken - not a ski, not a pole, not even a tailbone!
Today was Day 1 of the biggest Nationals I can remember… over 700 skiers at this race, many of them the top-level guys from the USA, to check out the Olympic venue for the first time.
The second Ottawa regional High School race was run this past Monday at the Nakkertok Nordic Centre. This race selected which skiers and teams will represent the region at the Ofsaa finals.
After the long 8 hour drive to the Charlevoix region of Quebec, we arrived at a campground near the hilly town of La Malbaie. As we were about to unpack the cars, the owner of the campground decided for himself that we were there for one reason only: to party!

Another successful time trial at Nakkertok. This time the skating technique drew a large high school crowd. A total of 94 skiers raced!

In North America, cross-country skiing doesn't get the media coverage it deserves, but the internet allows many us to stay in touch with the nordic scene. A fairly recent development is athlete websites.
