While training this week I had a chance to chat with and Phil Widmer who had the 4th (!) fastest qualifying time at Sovereign Lake in the World Cup Sprint.
This article describes my training last week which was my last high volume week of the summer months. Things got a little crazy at work and I had to take an extra rest day during the week so I made it an 8 day week to fit it all in.

The individual start skate race was on the menu today at the Canmore World Cup. For the women it was 10km and the men did 15km, on a 5km loop. The loop was very hard and the snow was cold, however the air had warmed up nicely by race time.
Cross country skiing is not necessarily the absolute best way to spend your time, but it would be hard to convince me that it isn't at least a pretty good way.
A few short comments on the race... Hardest course I've ever seen, we think John came up with the best wax job of the day!
