Yesterday was the first day of racing at the Nationals, and a warm and wet one it was! It was +3C with heavy fog and the stadium was on its way to being a shallow lake. Megan and Sheila raced together representing XC Ottawa in the Open Women category. Each team had 2 skiers, each racing the 1.3km sprint course three times. Megan and Sheila skied to a 7th place finish and 4th canadian team, just a warm-up for the rest of the races this week to come! Justin and Karl were on the scene testing their skis, but they didn’t race to save themselves for the rest of the week.

Zoe and Adele represented Carleton and skied in the CCUNC relay and placed 4th. They both admitted to feeling a bit sluggish. There were two Carleton men’s teams who made the finals: Matthias and Colin came 6th, Chris Mamen and Kyle Power came 10th.
