2010 Ottawa-Gatineau Cross-country Ski Swaps and Shows.

Time to clean out the garage and find those kids some new skis! As the Fall wears on skiers get itchy for snow. As a substitute for skiing they gather to trade and sell old equipment. If you are looking for deals, these are often the best places to check. Here are the details of a few such events we've heard about. If there are others, please let us know and we'll add the details here.
Sept 26th, 9am-1pm - This year’s Swap and Sale takes place on Saturday September 25 for equipment drop off and Sunday September 26th for the sale itself in Hall C at the Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata.
October 22-24th, Lansdowne Park. ( Friday: 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). There is no admission fee to this Show. Off-site parking is available free; on-site City of Ottawa parking is $5.
This is mainly a Downhill and Snowboard related show, with a few cross-country exhibitors. There is usually some xc equipment being sold at the gear swap.
November 6th - 10h00 to 15h00
Chelsea Elementary School - 74 Old Chelsea Road, Chelsea, QC
Chelsea Nordiq will be hosting one of the largest ski swaps and shows in the area. Sell and buy ski gear. Get great deals on new equipment too. All the ski stores, vendors and clubs will be there. Attend expert seminars on ski selection, waxing and training. More details to follow later.

Hopewell P.S. Ski, Snowboard and Skate + Bake Sale
Saturday November 20th from 9am to 11am in the Hopewell Garage.
This is a wonderful opportunity to sell used equipment that no longer fits your kids (or in the basement) and buy the next size up. Equipment intake will occur on Friday November 19th from 5:30pm to 8pm and the sale is on Saturday November 20 from 9am to 11am. Volunteers will sell the equipment and 75% of the proceeds go to the equipment owner and 25% to schools in need.

Saturday, November 27th. Residents can check out the latest in cross-country ski equipment, travel options and skill development at Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, located at 1265 Walkley Road just two blocks east of Bank Street. Admission is free and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event features the latest equipment and outerwear, travel destinations, information and registration for Gatineau Park services, Canadian Ski Marathon and the Keskinada. Register for cross-country ski lessons with the City of Ottawa and ski-waxing demonstrations. Many cross-country skiing experts will be on hand to provide useful tips and advice. Door prizes will be awarded. There is something for all ages and skill levels.
The Cross-Country Ski Show is organized by the City of Ottawa's Parks and Recreation branch, in partnership with the Ottawa Citizen.
