After a successful early season, XC Ottawa athletes are looking forward to more racing. Much of the team will be staying close to home for January and February, racing some of the many great local events and this region has to offer. You can expect to see some of us at the following events:

Jan 24: Nakkertok Invitational (Nakkertok Nordic Ski Club)
Jan 25: Nakkerloppet, (Nakkertok Nordic Ski Club)

Karl and Megan may head to Vermont on Feb 7-8 to race the 2009 TD Banknorth Super Tour in Stowe.

XC Ottawa's Carleton University skiers are likely to be dominating the Ontario University series of races, which takes them to North Bay, Sudbury, with the final OUA Championships taking place in Haliburton, ON on Feb 21-22.

Alana Thomas will be traveling the farthest, representing Canada in the 2009 edition of the World University Games (University Games are held every 2 years) to be held in Harbin, China February 18-28. Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang province in the northeast of China, known for its long winters and short summers.

As usual, the final major event of the season for most of the team will be the Canadian Cross Country Ski Championships , which will take place at Highlands Nordic (Duntroon, ON), March 8-15th.

We will keep you posted!
