This was the last race of the Continental Cup series, and also the last race of the Canadian National team selection races for the World Championships and World Under-23 Championships. It was a pretty important race, and it was to be a fun one, too.

Tuesday’s final Olympic Trials events were the 30km (women) and 50km (men) individual start classic events, both held on exclusively on the punishing 5km World Cup loop.

Saturday brought a major weather change to Whistler with heavy snow and wind. This made for a pretty slow skate sprint course, but XCOttawa braved the conditions and pulled through with some great results.

On Saturday XC Ottawa lined up for the much anticipated Gatineau Loppet 55km classic event on the new course from Lac Philippe to Mt. Bleu.

XCOttawa.ca is more than simply a racing team. XCOttawa.ca will work to promote the sport of cross-country skiing at both recreational and competitive levels within the national capital area, as well as throughout Ontario and across Canada.

Cross country skiing is not necessarily the absolute best way to spend your time, but it would be hard to convince me that it isn't at least a pretty good way.
