Traditionally XC Ottawa holds an early on-snow training camp in November at Foret Montmorency. This is the first year I have attended the camp, although I have been to Foret Montmorency several times before for racing.
Thanks also to our volunteers who perservered despite an approximate 12 degree temperature drop between morning and afternoon.
Many team members will be racing this weekend at different venues.

Since the national 50km race (the conclusion of the ski season), it has been an interesting 3 weeks or so and there have been a number of things that have happened to me that have been (1) stressful, (2) eye opening, and (3) funny . . .
XC Ottawa team members competed in a variety of races and came home with a gold medal in the 29km Skate by Craig Storey, a bronze in the 29km classic courtesy of Justin Demers and Sheila and Megan making it into the money (top 5) for the 53km skate!
This is my fourth year of skiing and it’s been quite a journey up to now.
This past weekend XCOttawa held its second training camp of the summer. As the OWL rafting camp was a big success, it would be a hard act to follow. We held the camp was at my cottage on Lac du Marble, just an hour drive from Ottawa.

Gavin, emerged as the leader of the Men’s Nordic Ski team that captured the program’s 3rd CCUNC/CIS Men’s National Title in the past seven years. He becomes the 3rd XCOttawa member after Megan and Eva to earn this honor. XCOttawa alumni Linnea Rudachyk earns the Graduating Female Athlete of the Year award.
