Two Saturday’s ago, XC Ottawa racers enjoyed (kind of?) a multidiscipline day of intensity consisting of a 5 to 10 km classic time trial, followed by a Bench Press competition in the afternoon. No that is not a typo, this year we’re getting strong!

Ski boots have a screw at the front that connects the hard plastic sole to the boot part. I had managed to wear away all the material around this screw as well as the other connecting material so that my boot was no longer connected to the sole near the binding.
Team selections are done and XC Ottawa is looking forward to an exciting new season!
For a while I had been thinking about going to Hamilton for this weekend to watch the World Cycling Championships. Then I realised that television coverage is better in some ways and going to Hamilton was not the best idea in my preparations for ski season.
This week I decided to discuss two areas of training that are often under emphasised and that I believe the best skiers to train more than others. I am referring to the amount of training that uses the upper body and the specificity of training.
