The first races of the year are coming up fast. Back when I started travelling to races, the first big races - at Silver Star - were really, really big...

XC Ottawa team members competed in a variety of races and came home with a gold medal in the 29km Skate by Craig Storey, a bronze in the 29km classic courtesy of Justin Demers and Sheila and Megan making it into the money (top 5) for the 53km skate!

Today was the first rest day of the National Championships week. This past weekend was a busy and successful one for XCOttawa skiers.

Racing is in full swing for XC Ottawa athletes - here's where we're competing . . .

This year began back in May, when me, Karl and Tom, in consultation with our coach Pavol Skvaridlo, decided to try some very aggressive training programs in an attempt to ski a lot faster. As a result of this we all worked a lot harder than ever before, knowing that improvements were likely but there was a chance of being tired during the race season.

Last weekend two XC Ottawa skiers, Megan and Dave, travelled to Sudbury to represent Carleton University at the Ontario University Championhips. The races took place at Laurentian University on some fun, challenging and well groomed trails.

Here's a quick update on my summer training and racing.
