What you need to know abut this weekends big races in Cantley.
August 2 to 9 were the dates of the NADC Ottawa-Gatineau training camp at the Madawaska Kanu Centre (MKC) near Barry's Bay in Ontario. Three XC Ottawa members successfully kept their heads above water for the entire week! ( well, with the exception of when trying to learn how to roll kayaks) These were Megan McTavish, Tom McCarthy, and Karl Saidla.
CARLETON UNIVERSITY RAVENS MEN'S NORDIC SKI TEAM CAPTURES 2007 CANADIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. CARLETON UNIVERSITY RAVENS WOMEN'S TEAM EARN CANADIAN NATIONAL BRONZE MEDAL.
The last race of 2013 was the highly anticipated Boxing Day Burnoff at Nakkertok.
October has come, and with it the changing colours of fall in the Gatineau Park. Local tourism is booming as people come to the Park to enjoy the colours of fall, using the many scenic driving routes and chairlift rides to accomplish their yearly commune with nature. Some, however, prefer to enjoy nature more directly, and for this dedicated and slightly imbalanced crowd there are plenty of diversions, foremost among them the annual Fall Rhapsody Mountain Run.
The majority of XCOttawa.ca participated in the Fall Rhapsody Mountain Running Race at Camp Fortune in Gatineau Park. This was a 10km race on a challenging course.
This weekend, Ed and I had the pleasure of racing at the ‘first sanctioned nordic ski event at the Callaghan Valley’ – and we have the pins to show for it!
To begin, it must be mentioned that our team was exceptionally well prepared for this race, and we had excellent race and wax support. Among those who made superb contributions in this regard were Pavol Skvaridlo, John Langstone, Tom McCarthy, and Don Moxley.
