The temperature rose from –1C over night to about +2C during the race. The result was that the flatter sections of the course were hard and glazed in the centre of the track, and fairly soft closer to each side. The uphill sections were quite soft and energy sapping.

The second Ottawa regional High School race was run this past Monday at the Nakkertok Nordic Centre. This race selected which skiers and teams will represent the region at the Ofsaa finals.
Last Sunday was one of those days that I should have just stayed in bed.
XC Ottawa is prepping for our first major racing of the season with the full team present.
This past week-end was our first team training camp which was held at Owl Rafting on the Ottawa River.
Update: To participate, register at 8am either P8 or P9 on Saturday October 2nd. The world record for the most number of rollerskiers in one place, at one time, ever will take place at the mid-way parking lot at 8:30am.
Now is a time when I’m especially appreciative of the specific dryland training I’ve done, since it makes the transition to snow that much easier. On snow sessions in Montmorency and last week in the Gatineau park should also make this early season racing
The last race of 2013 was the highly anticipated Boxing Day Burnoff at Nakkertok.
