XC Ottawa’s Megan McTavish qualifies for World Cup!

Megan Mctavish will be part of Canada’s 2008 FIS World Cup Team for events in Canmore, Alberta that will take place from Jan 22-26, 2008. Based on her performances at NorAm sprint races and distance events in the recent Duntroon NorAm, Megan has been selected to race in the classic sprint events on January 23^rd and the 10km skate race on January 25th.  This is especially impressive since Megan was fighting a bad cold in Duntroon!

XC Ottawa nearly qualified three athletes for the distance events, but Karl narrowly missed making the very competitive men’s team and Sheila was on track after the first qualifying race but dropped out of the second qualifying race when sick.

All live broadcasts will be repeated on CBC CC digital service at 9:00 pm MT (22nd, 23rd, 25th, and 26th). CBC conventional service will air a 2-3 hour highlights package on Feb 16. Live highlights will also be carried from the Sprint event on Saturday, January 26 by CBC.
