The OUA Championships came to Ottawa last weekend and Nakkertok outdid themselves once again by holding a great event. Ed and I were the two XC Ottawa members in the competition and as members of the Carleton contingent, we had our sights set on first place, hopfully this year beating out Lakehead. The first day was a 10km individual skate race and then a 3 person team relay in the afternoon. Sunday was a mas start classic race.
We didn't quite make our goal of taking Lakehead out but all in all it was a successful weekend for Carleton. We placed five members of our team on the two OUA All-Star squads, Alysia Garmulewicz and former XCOttawa skier Linnea Rudachyk were named to the OUA Women's Team, while Chris Mamen, Ed McCarthy and Gavin Hamilton were named to the Men's All-Star team.
In addition, the Relay Race team of Mamen, Hamilton and McCarthy earned the 2007 OUA Men's Silver Medal at the Relay Race on Saturday and the Women's Relay Race team of Garmulewicz, Rudachyk and Monica Stoeger earned the 2007 OUA Bronze Medal.
