Today was a very good day for the Ottawa girls. Perianne Jones finished in 1st place, Kate Brennan was 3rd and I surprised myself by making it to the A final and finishing in 6th (just inside the money!!). This is the first A final in a National level race I have ever been in.
I started off well in the qualifiers finishing in 11th. I was pleased with that result and was hoping to squeeze into the semi finals (top 12). My heat was a challenging one including National Team skiers Perianne Jones and Madeleine Williams. I had a good start and came around the final corner in 3rd. I managed to get past Madeleine heading into the finishing straight and just barely finished second in my heat, acheiving my goal of the top 12. In the semi finals the top 3 move on and again I managed to get the final position to make it to the A final behind Perianne and Sarah Daitch. I wasn't quite as snappy in the final and finished 6th.
I guess I shouldn't say I'm not a sprinter?!? Things are looking up!
On the men's side National Team skier Sean Crooks was first followed by Chris Jeffries and Phil Widmer.
