Children’s XC-Ski Instructors / Moniteurs de Ski de Fond

Hours: Up to 6.5 hours per week. Saturday mornings and/or Sunday afternoons. January to March 2007.

Horaire: Trois à 6,5 heures par semaine, les samedis matins et/ou les dimanches après-midis. Janvier à mars 2006.

Responsibilities: Create a safe and enjoyable instructional environment where children aged 6-13 can learn the fundamentals of Classic Cross Country Skiing.

Fonctions: Mettre sur pied et enseigner des programmes de ski de fond pour enfants de 6 à 13 ans, selon la méthode classique.

Job Description: City of Ottawa Children’s Classic Cross Country Ski Instructor

Employment Period: January 13 to late February/early March

Wage: $13.02 - $28.37/hour, commensurate with experience & qualifications

Other details: Up to 6.5 hours/week. Saturday mornings and/or Sunday afternoons

Summary: The Instructor will be responsible for creating a safe and enjoyable instructional environment where children between the ages of six and thirteen years of age can confidently learn the fundamentals of Classic Cross Country Skiing. Working both independently and with the other children’s instructors, the instructor will plan and execute weekly lesson content, building games and other fun, kid-friendly activities into each lesson.

Qualifications include:

· Must be available to work all weekends for the term of employment
· Good knowledge of Classic X-C Ski technique, ability to demonstrate this technique at an intermediate level.
· Good communication skills & demonstrated ability to lead a group
· Experience working with children. Prior teaching experience is an asset
