Why are the leaves still on the trees?

(Written after a frustrating ski on December 22nd.)

Why are the leaves
Still on the trees?
Why do they blow
on the new snow?
Winter has come
Skiing is here
So why are the leaves still on the trees?

Why do they pack
Into the classic track?
They stick to my grip
And make me trip.
They're always right
in the wrong place
Why do they pack
Into the classic track?

It's almost the New Year
But they're still here
How long will they be
Constantly annoying me?
I'm not skating
the whole year.
Please, leaves,
Fall off the damn trees!
