Women’s Leadership Workshop Effective Training for Active Women 2006


March 31/April 1st 2006 RA Centre, Ottawa ON

Interested in learning about effective training programs for girls/women and clarifying our unique needs? Build or refine an effective training plan for fitness, health or competition, learn how skiing can be an effective cross training activity for other sports or how other sports can be effective off-season training for skiers? Share your experiences with other active women, meet new friends, reenergize your commitment to activity or volunteering in our sport, and contribute ideas to increase effective participation of women in the ski community. Do yo Learn from the experience of Olympian Sue Holloway how best to support your kids in sports = through competition. The CCC Women’s Committee is hosting a workshop and seminar to share opportunities and challenges that women meet in our sport.

It will be held in Ottawa on April 1st (Sat). Arrive in time to meet the participants at the ice breaker/reception Friday evening (March 31st). To minimize the cost for participants and to build new friendships, billeting will be available. Rooms have also been reserved at an Ottawa hotel.

The weekend will include:

§ Presentation on effective training for girls/women
§ Encourage teens to keep active and participate in out sport
§ Develop an effective training plan for yourself or, if a coach, for your athletes
§ Fitness for life, health, fun, friendship or competition
§ Technique sessions on skiing, cross training activities (e.g, effective running), strength training (depending on interest)
§ Discussion on why women make effective contributions to the cross country ski community.
§ Hear about how to implement a Girls Active Lifestyle program
§ Participate in discussions to build effective Women on Ski Days
§ Networking with other women skiers, cyclists, runners, paddlers, coaches, club volunteers, parents . .
Everyone is welcome to come and participate. We encourage parents, coaches, club volunteers, active skiers, runners, cyclists, paddlers and others who ski for cross training, to share your experiences and to learn from each other.

 

CCC Women’s Workshop Fee:
§ $75.00 (Includes Friday reception/Sat lunch) (if registering prior to March 15, 2006)
§ Late registration Fee ($100.00)

Accommodation costs
§ $128.00 double accommodation is available at Hampton Hotel (call to reserve but advise the hotel that you are with CCC Women on Skis workshop). Billeting will arranged wherever possible upon request.

 

Note: Please advise us of your travel plans if you wish to coordinate transportation from the airport to downtown.
