11 Reasons (& more!) to run the Jim Howe Memorial XC Race this Saturday
By:  Sheila Kealey   (2016/10/12)

XC Ottawa athletes have always loved the Jim Howe Memorial Cross Country Race!  This year it’s part of a the Capital XC Challenge and has a new home at Mooney’s Bay. This 2-day event also features the Eastern Ontario Elementary School Cross Country Championships and another new series for local high school students.

Here’s how Karl describes racing the Jim Howe event . . .

A couple of things are for sure. When you finish, you are going to be tired. You will also be satisfied because you have just run with real abandon, which you probably haven’t done since you were either 12 years old, or when you ran last year at the Jim Howe event. If it is a particularly good year, you’ll come home with not only a smile on your face, but maybe a just a little dirt on your shoes.

11 other good reasons . . .

  1. Not on pavement

  2. Not flat

  3. Not boring

  4. Not too long

  5. Not too hilly

  6. Not too tricky

  7. Not expensive

  8. Easy to get there

  9. No PBs

  10. Nobody cares

  11. You have been too soft since grade 9.

Come join us, or come cheer!
