January 15th, 2014 (Montebello, QC) – Fast and Female is excited to announce our second annual Champ Camp at the 2014 Canadian Ski Marathon in Montebello, Quebec on Saturday, February 8th 2014. The evening of athletic inspiration is open to all girls aged 9-19, who are invited to join this inspiring event led by Fast and Female ambassador Rosanna Tomiuk, a national team water polo player, Pan-Am medalist, turned songstress and life coach. "I see more clearly now more than I ever have how much sport has contributed to my life. It's the habits I developed as a young girl - to wake up early, to jump in a cold pool when I didn't always want to, to work hard even when it hurt - that I count on today as a young woman to create a successful life," said Rosanna.

Sue Holloway, the first woman and first Canadian to compete in both Summer and Winter Olympic Games in the same year (Innsbruck, 1976, cross-country skiing and Montréal, 1976, canoe-kayak sprint) will be co-leading the Champ Camp. Sue won 2 Olympic Medals in canoe-kayak sprint at the Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles. “Congratulations on taking the Canadian Ski Marathon challenge! The CSM was one of my first big ski events and I am thrilled to be sharing the experience with the Fast and Female participants” concluded the Olympian.

“The Canadian Ski Marathon is very excited to continue our partnership with Fast and Female. With our mission to provide opportunities for broad participation in cross-country skiing as a great motivation for an active lifestyle, we have a major focus on youth participation. Our partnership with Fast and Female bolsters opportunities for girls to participate and stay active in sports,” says the CSM organizing committee.

Fast and Female’s mission is to support, encourage and motivate girls to stay in sports. It is believed that girls are six times more likely to drop out of sports than boys by the time they reach 14 years old.
