This just in from Waterville, Maine: the Carleton Nordic ski team hit the ski trails hard last weekend at the Colby Carnival ski races. Sources say the team members were looking strong and fit on the trails. Pete and I were stoked to join our school team at the race. Some of America’s best College racers were competing in the two day event - a classic 5km/10km race on Friday, and a 10km/15km skate race on Saturday (distances for girls and guys, respectively). Initially the Saturday races were meant to be longer and in a mass start format. In a stunning turn of events (namely a thaw/freeze cycle that turned the course stadium into an ice rink) the race format was changed to be shorter, with interval starts. The team is working towards the Eastern Canadian Championships to be held at Nakkertok at the start of February. After that it will be the OUA championships in North Bay. On the condition of anonymity, one source says that the other teams better watch out ;) Peter Beisel (XC Ottawa) and Kendra Murray were the top finishers on the Carleton team on both days. Full results from the event can be found here: http://www.barttiming.com/eisa/Results14/cbc14.htm
