Nakkertok Trail Clearing

XC-Ottawa has always appreciated the generous support of Nakkertok Nordic, especially the use of some fantastic facilities, which are certainly some of the best in Canada. Every year we have a day that the team comes together to help with some of the preseason maintenance to help the trails be in the best condition possible when the snow finally gets here.

Nakkertok South is undergoing some exciting changes again this year including an improved sprint course, which complies with FIS standards for climb elevations (bigger hills!), so that it can continue to host high profile races. Along with the main hill being increased several meters, by a short loop extension before descending at Dirks dive, the second hill was also widened and goes slightly higher. In short, be prepared to feel the burn more than usual at this year at Eastern Canadian Championships!

This year, Lee and I helped put some of the siding on the equipment shed, which will be housing a NEW Piston Bully groomer! Looking forward to some awesome grooming with the new machine!

Here are a few pictures of us helping out:

Lee putting up some barn board.

Ingrid, Vest and Liza hard at work.

Peter with the skill saw.

Lee hammering some nails home.

Although we try to be as helpful as we can while we are there, Nakkertok is kept running by a lot of hard workers, some are there almost every weekend before ski season and we are quite thankful for their efforts, especially when winter finally rolls around!

Hope to see you out on the trails, keep an eye on the snow fall contest : here.  I can feel the first snow coming soon!

Thanks for reading,

Peter
