Too often we neglect the volunteers who make cross country ski racing happen in the National Capital District. These are the people who spend weeks and months of their time preparing for and conducting the big race events. More so, these are often the people who teach the race officials how to do their jobs, write the competition manuals and ensure successful, fair and open competitions.
This year, NCD will recognize Jim and Diane Thomson, who are the team that quite literally wrote the officials rule book and taught a generation of officials how to put on races. We most often see them at the start line, counting down the watches to make sure the skiers start on time.
The NCD is proud to honour Jim and Diane with the “Jim and Diane Cup” for the NCD Club Champion at our upcoming NCD banquet on April 14th. Please join us in an evening where we celebrate our skiers and volunteers.
