So how much wax do you really need? How much do we use a year? Like a lot of things it depends on the weather. Some years we us nothing but green waxes, the next year every race seems to be on violet or red. You never can predict, but keeping the most common stocked in your box should cover the majority of Ottawa ski days.
You can find all the details about waxes listed here on the Vauhti international website: www.vauhti.fi
Glide Waxes
Be sure to check out the glide waxing tips from the Vauhti technical team. and their glide wax recipes to help you select the right wax for the days conditions.

Bulk "Shop" Blue, Regular (Blue, Green)

LF (Green, Blue, Graphite)

HF (Green, Molybden, Blue, Viloet, Silver, Pink, Yellow)

If I were to splurge on a High Fluoro for racing I would choose either GoldFox or BlackFox compressed block (NAPPI). The price might scare you at first, but trust me one block is almost a lifetime supply if you only use it only for racing and special training days. The investment is ~$5/race. You'll spend more on lunch and gas getting to the race site!
Grip waxes

Kick waxes by frequency used: Orange "Carrot" Fluoro, K15, Basewax Super (Super Binder), Green Fluoro, Aluminum Fluoro, Teho Green, Tar -1..-6C, Violet Fluoro, K12, Red Fluoro.

We find the fluoro waxes are generally gripper, while also providing better glide. They are a few $ more, but classic wax last a long time. You might need a new Carrot, Super Binder and Teho Green every other season but the others generally last many years. We also advise having the entire klister line, either fluoro or non.
