Skiing or Skating In Whitehorse

I feel slightly bad writing this article knowing that Ottawa is praying for snow still. They should have had some a month ago if it was up to me, but keep up the snow dancing, it will come and it will be worth it.

I have been back to Whitehorse for a week now and it has been nothing short of amazing. The skiing has been great, I have been sleeping in almost every day, eating some pretty good food, played hockey a couple times and sat around the fire place. I am a little late writing this article because instead of at school, where I take a break from homework to write an article, I am now home where hockey wins over an article everytime.

I couldn’t think of anything special to write my article on so when I went skiing with Knute and Colin earlier this week we just took a video. Knute had his phone with him which takes pretty good video. We decided to film most of the downhills we did that day. The film ended up being pretty long with all the downhills and it gets a little boring watching people go down hillls over and over again. So we cut some film out and made some stuff slow-mo to spice it up a little. Anyhow, we ended up climbing close to 700m that day according to Colin and with a couple sprints in there my legs were definetly feeling it the next day. We also did most of the major downhills that are part of the Whitehorse Cross Country Ski Club trails.

That same day, Lee and Michael decided to skip the skiing and took a trip to a lake called Windy Arm in the Yukon, where the ice had frozen pretty smooth. It is also very windy up there so little snow stays on the lake. Lee also took a video of his day. Here are both the videos, decisions you have to make when you're home for the holidays: amazing skiing or amazing skating…..it's a hard life.

Merry Christmas Everyone
Also thanks to Knute and Lee for their nice filmmaking.
