Early Snow Skiing- Ottawa

Its an exciting time of year for all the skiers out there who have been training all through the summer for this ski season! We have already tasted snow in Montmorencey and you can tell that Team XC Ottawa is itching to get out on as much snow as possible before some of the important races coming up very soon. This is especially true for Sheila and Colin who will be racing starting December 11 at the Sovereign Lake NorAm. Both are eager for their first major races of the year and we wish them good luck!
Back in Ottawa, its been a tough training because if you haven’t noticed, the real snow is really taking its time getting here! Luckily the forecast for the immediate future points to snow and cold temperatures and hopefully it will not be long before we have some pristine classic track in Gatineau! Meanwhile we have been slugging it out on the Parkway and  Brewer Park on the old rockskiis when we have enough snow and building some character on rollerskiis in the slush. Probably with a lot of the same training benefits as real skiing but without the finesse of skiing on freshly groomed trails I am usually accustomed to by this time of year!
None the less we have managed to stay focused as individuals and as a team to make sure that we are as prepared as anyone when the first important races hit starting this month. Here are a few pictures of our training last month.
