This past weekend, after a few failed attempts due to lack of snow, we finally got on the road and headed to our favourite November ski location, la Foręt Montmorency. As we may have mentioned before, this place is a perfect place to do a training camp.
The place consists of a building with dorm rooms, common rooms a wax room and a dining room and a whole lot of ski trails. The ski trails start just outside the door of the wax room which is only a few steps from the dorms. Basically, you get up, walk through the building to a hearty breakfast of eggs, toast, potatoes and some kind of meat, come back, change, wax (or not) and go straight out the door to ski until lunch time at which point you return for a quick shower and head right back to the dining room. After lunch and a quick nap, its out the door again for more skiing. Supper is early (5:30) and then relaxing is in order, either by playing pool or ping pong or by reading by the fire, hanging out in the rooms or playing guitars.
This year some of us also did a classic sprint race which was a lot of fun, even though we had only skied for one day (or in Katie and Andre's case....not at all!).
Andre will be writing an article soon about that part of the adventure.
All in all, we had an amazing time and are really glad it worked out so well.
Thanks to the staff for such a great visit!
