Chandra Crawford's Fast and Female event finally reached the Ottawa area, and even though the XC ski racing season is pretty much over for most, over 70 enthusiastic young girls from local clubs were eager to take part. Nakkertok skier and 2010 Olympian Perrianne Jones coordinated the event with Dave McMahon and Lise Meloche of Natural Fitness Lab.
I joined in to help out, along with my XC Ottawa teammates Anna Geiger-Whitlock and Alana Thomas. Other helpers included Sarah Mamen, Megan Cummings, Pavlina Sudrich, Judi Agnew, Kateri Mills, Liza Rozina, Katie McMahon and Tara Redpath.
We all had a great afternoon and managed to pack in a bunch of fun events that included trail running, ski striding and sliding on snow, snow wrestling, Peri's obstacle course, strength, soccer, and capture the flag.
