2009 Ottawa-Gatineau Cross-country Ski Swaps and Shows.

Time to clean out the garage and find those kids some new skis! As the Fall wears on skiers get itchy for snow. As a substitute for skiing they gather to trade and sell old equipment. If you are looking for deals, these are often the best places to check. Here are the details of a few such events we've heard about. If there are others, please let us know and we'll add the details here.
October 23-25th, 2009 ( Friday: 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.). Located at the Ottawa Civic Centre at Lansdowne Park (1015 Bank Street).' There is no admission fee to this Show. Off-site parking is available free; on-site City of Ottawa parking is $5.
While this is mainly a Downhill and Snowboard related show, with a few cross-country exhibitors. But there is usually some xc equipment at the swap.

Nov 14/15th, 9am-1pm - Registration, Ski Swap & Sale at the John Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata.
This year's Swap and Sale takes place on Sat. Nov. 14th (drop off) and Sun. Nov. 15th (for the sale itself) at the John Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata. Drop off any adult or children's cross country skis, boots or poles on Sat. between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. Experienced club members will help you price your gear. We charge a mere $2 for each item you register to sell, and will retain 20% of the sale price to cover the hall rental costs.
The Swap and Sale runs Sun. from 2:30 until 5:30 p.m. upstairs in Hall C. Purchases can be made by cash or cheque. Proceeds from your sales and your unsold equipment must be picked up between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Saturday, November 26th. Residents can check out the latest in cross-country ski equipment, travel options and skill development at Jim Durrell Recreation Centre, located at 1265 Walkley Road just two blocks east of Bank Street. Admission is free and the event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event features the latest equipment and outerwear, travel destinations, information and registration for Gatineau Park services, Canadian Ski Marathon and the Keskinada. Register for cross-country ski lessons with the City of Ottawa and ski-waxing demonstrations. Many cross-country skiing experts will be on hand to provide useful tips and advice. Door prizes will be awarded. There is something for all ages and skill levels.
The Cross-Country Ski Show is organized by the City of Ottawa's Parks and Recreation branch, in partnership with the Ottawa Citizen.
