Nordic Skiing - Downhill Clinic, Monday Feb. 2nd, 2009
By: David McMahon (2009/01/28)
This weekend, I spent 40 minutes administering first aid to a xc skier who had crashed on a typical downhill in the Gatineau Park. The corner had been snowplowed down to the gravel. That led to a discussion:
"How many people are risking broken equipment, and injury every time they go out, unnecessarily?"
"Do people ski uphill faster than you ski downhill?"
"Do both uphills and downhills take your breath away?"
Owing to popular demand... we will be holding a crash course :-) downhill clinic for nordic skiing on Monday 02 Feb 09 at 6:30 PM.
Meet at the biathlon range at Camp Fortune (near the race trails) far west end of the valley parking lot.
It is free for everyone with natural fitness lab or registered with any ski club. There is a $10 drop in fee for everyone else.
We will also take the opportunity to work on uphill technique (classic or skate) on steep hills.
The progressions will be safe and suitable for all levels and abilities.
No signup... just show up.
