The Joys of Crust Skiing

I'm glad someone took my crust skiing comments seriously. It hadn't even occurred to me to test the crust until we saw a father and son from Skinouk coming through the bush along Ridge. The son was quite proficient at dart between trees almost like a bird flying through the forest. I tested the crust on my way back but didn't make an adventure out of it as I had to hurry back.

Here's a brief report and a few pictures of one guy that did, Teo. From his mother..

The crust skiing's been incredible here in farm country north of Wakefield. We can skate from field to field to field, follow power lines through the trees, follow logging roads, etc. You might enjoy these great shots of my son Teo heading out on his skate skis with his snowboard strapped to his back. He was heading out over the fields for a huge hill about 2km away.

Teo testing the setup before heading out.

Teo crust skiing to far off destinations. Snowboard, helmet and boots ready for the big hill.
