News from Lafleur de la Capitale!
By: Team XC Ottawa (2008/03/05)
Lafleur de la Capitale remains very much involved in cross-country skiing and the local ski community. XC Ottawa is proud of our relationship with Lafleur de la Capitale, and we would like to bring you up to date on a few of their excellent and innovative ski-related activities.
1. Le Relais Plein Air
Lafleur is the current manager of Le Relais Plein Air, which is the full service day lodge located next to Mt. Bleu high school at the southern end of the Gatineau Park ski trail network. Lafleur has seven CANSI certified instructors available for lessons, along with an impressive rental fleet of 170 sets of equipment (classic, skate, high performance) and 100 sets of snowshoes. Finally there is a place where one can be warm and comfortable both before and after skiing and where you can even socialize over a hot chocolate or coffee! This represents an excellent venue from which to enjoy a day of skiing, or particularly, to introduce someone new to the sport! Please see our related announcement on both the facility and their open house this coming Sunday, March 9.
2. School and Vacation Packages
Lafleur has put together an exciting series of outdoor and ski oriented school and vacation packages that will appeal to many. These packages include items such as ski instruction, guided tours, catered meals and local accommodation. For further information, please see the links below for examples, or contact Lafleur de la Capitale at firstname.lastname@example.org or 613 724 6096.
3. Mooney's Bay Grooming
Lafleur has also been performing the grooming at Mooney's Bay, which represents a superbly convenient in town location for cross-country skiing, including trails which are well lit for night skiing. It is reassuring to know that this well-used facility is in the hands of a very capable grooming team.
4. Chelsea Railway Ski Trail Initiative
On a weekly basis, Lafleur also grooms the Chelsea railway bed which provides a further skiing opportunity in the Gatineau region, and for some, is even suitable for commuting to things like work and shopping!
