Nakkertok Ski Club hosted a record-setting weekend in Gatineau Park this past weekend. In spite of the bitter-cold temperatures, it was likely one of the best attended Ontario Cup races ever. XC Ottawa athletes continued the record setting by posting impr
To begin, it must be mentioned that our team was exceptionally well prepared for this race, and we had excellent race and wax support. Among those who made superb contributions in this regard were Pavol Skvaridlo, John Langstone, Tom McCarthy, and Don Moxley.
XCOttawa.ca showed up very strongly this past weekend at the National Long-Distance Championships, on both the mens and womens sides. The team placed two men in the top 10 and six in the top 15, while we had a 7th and 13th place showing from the women.
As mentioned in the previous article, the trails were in immaculate shape heading into the Canadian Nationals at Lappe Nordic. It seems like trails are often great before major championship events and then, the night before the first race the “you know what” hits the fan.
Because the rest of XCOTTAWA saw no advantage in traveling when the Quebec Sprint Championships were in Hull, I was on my own for the Ontario Cup Final this past weekend.

As an alumni member of the XC Ottawa racing team, I thought that I'd contribute to the website with a couple of training sessions that I've done in the past month being in Western Canada.
