If you have been following xcottawa.ca from the very beginning, back before we even had this fly domain name, you might remember a trip report I submitted about a trip to the Chic Choc mountains back in May, 2001. Well we went back for another late spring skiing fling!

Being fortunate skiers who live right in Old Chelsea, Arno, Karl and I have decided that we should share the wealth. (Actually we want all the inquiring phone calls to stop!) So now when you log onto www.xcottawa.ca you can see a live picture of the weather outside our window.

Results from Saturday's XCOttawa.ca Open 8.5km classic time trial. Air temperature was -12°C.

I thought the spotlight on Beckie was stellar, something for the Cross Country Skiing fans to enjoy, but also something that opens the eyes of an average sports fan.

It seems a lot has changed in our sport in the last few years and these trends have been particularly evident in the last few weeks.

The course started at P8 and went out to the end of the Doldrums and back to the gate. It was very windy!

October has come, and with it the changing colours of fall in the Gatineau Park. Local tourism is booming as people come to the Park to enjoy the colours of fall, using the many scenic driving routes and chairlift rides to accomplish their yearly commune with nature. Some, however, prefer to enjoy nature more directly, and for this dedicated and slightly imbalanced crowd there are plenty of diversions, foremost among them the annual Fall Rhapsody Mountain Run.

There are many varieties of running races: sprints, middle distance, track, road and cross-country are the most common. In recent years, mountain running has developed.

XCOttawa.ca hosted an "Open" time trial on the Gatineau Parkway for all those skiers gearing up for early season races.
